Ideal client profile (agency)
An ideal client profile is the written description of the accounts an agency earns the most gross margin on and keeps the longest, stated as checkable criteria: revenue band, vertical, service fit and who signs. Build it from the current client list ranked by effective hourly rate rather than from who the founder would prefer to work with.
Most agencies hold the profile in the founder's head as a feeling about which calls go well. Written criteria are what let a sales hire or a lead form apply the same judgment without the founder present.
The profile also sets who to decline. An agency with a stated profile turns down the accounts that would have become next year's margin problem, which is the cheapest moment to do it.
How Hydra uses it
Hydra applies a revenue floor to its own profile: below roughly $30k a month, a mastermind is usually the better purchase, because the constraint at that stage is almost always acquisition and the answer is not yet specific to the business.
